Once again, lets take a look on the films that gained box office record world wide this year as of today.
10. The Mummy:Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - earning almost 389 million, the Brendan Fraser's 3rd installment of this film is good at No. 10 as of now, which is the lowest rank among the three films for a yearly box office champ. The Mummy Returns in 2001 was number 7 in 2001, and The Mummy in 1999 was in number 6.
But with the success of High School Musical 3: Senior's Year in the box office and the box office prediction of 007's Quantum of Solace, the current top 10 film could be thrown out of Top 10 this year and be replaced by either of the two films.
9. Sex and City: The Movie- taking the No. 9 position is a TV drama turned to a box office champ this year, Sex and the City with the total gross of 401 million.
8. Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - with 419 million of total gross, this 2nd film from Chronicles of Narnia book series have failed to surpass its predecessor 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe' which was in No. 3 in worldwide in 2005 with total gross of 739 million.
7. WALL-E - currently earning 482 million world wide. Although not as successful as Finding Nemo and Ratatouille, WALL-E is also not at the lowest rank as it surpassed Cars' and other early-released Pixar Films.
6. Mama Mia - this ABBA musical film is currently in No. 6. With almost 560 million world wide of total gross, Mama Mia is the biggest and most succesful musical film of all time.
5. Iron Man - one of the hottest superheroes of 2008, Iron Man's grossed to 572 million world wide.
4. Hancock - another superhero, Will Smith's film has earned 624 million wordwide.
3. Kung Fu Panda - From Pixar's Ratatouille last year, the highest grossing animated film this year taken by Dream Works Animation with world wide's gross of 634 million.
2. Indian Jones and the Crystal Skull - the runner-up this year goes to Indie. This Ford and Spielberg's comeback film surpassed the all previous Indiana films with the total gross of 784 million.
1. The Dark Knight - the champion this year, is another superhero, and a comeback film of Nolan and Bale. Following the success of thier last 2006 team up, this year has been the luckiest year of the two so far. With the total gross of 993 million, and breaking 29 records that include the Widest Opening and the Fastest film to reach 500 million in just 45 days after released.
