My Pick for this year Golden Globe

Critic Awards have been naming their picks for Acting Awards and Best Pictures and Golden Globe has already announced its rolls of nominees. I'm sure the Oscar Academy is also busy doing screening and other stuff in picking thier list of nominees. While the rest are busy with all its long processes of coming up with the winners, i also have my own list, and they are the following.

Best Picture Drama- Frost/Nixon - Its really my choice for Best Picture, coz i want to see more of Howard's Biographic Films. A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man were really my all time favorite movies and im sure this Fronst/Nixon would really add to my list. My runner-up would be the intriguing story of Slumdog Millionaire.

Best Picture Musical or Comedy - Mama Mia! - Its very relaxing with a very smooth choreography in dancing, with a very great actors like Meryl Streep and a surprising talent from Mr. James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.

Best Director - Ron Howards - Obviously, my pick, who is really my favorite director. Next to him is Steven Spielberg whose movie this year is not much an award-like.

Best Actor - Leonardo DiCaprio - I think this year is another year for Leonardo to win Best Actor for the film "Revolutionary Road" after winning the award with the movie "Aviator.

Best Actress - Anne Hathaway - This is really a surprise nod for Anne, from a teen star to a more matured role, i think she would make history like Reese Witherspoon did in 2006.

Best Animated Film - Kung Fu Panda - I'm sorry Wall-E, i like you very much, but I like Po more, and with all the outstanding casts, its really my this year's animated film favorite.

Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger - his outstanding performance in The Dark Knight is really unescapable. He was brilliant and really deserve the award.

Best Supportin Actress - Kate Winslet - By just reading the synopsis of this film, i can already imagine Kate portraying her role. If she would have been nominated Best Actress in this film, she could have been my pick for Best Actress.

So those are my picks, they might not all win in Golden Globe, but i'm sure they will make it in Oscar, atleat nominees.

Robert Downey Jr. is portraying Sherlock Holmes

After portraying Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is said to be portraying detective Sherlock Holmes which will be out in 2010 and will be directed by Guy Ritchie. But before Robert wore the iron suit and became superhero he had already proven his acting capability and was able to be recognized by the Academy with his nomination for Best Actor in 1992 with the film Chaplin.

He had also worked with Oscar Best Actress Halley Berry in Gothika, with Val Kilmer in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and with Jake Gyllanhaal and Mark Rufallo in Zodiac. Despite of all that it was really Iron Man that made him as one of the box office actors of today.

His latest movie, Thropic Thunder with Ben Stiller and Jack Black is still out and has already reached over 100 million in the box office.

Heath Ledger, his best performance in Joker role

His untimely death(Jan 22, 2008) shocked the fans and people of the movie industry, how could be one of the best actors of his times found dead in his own room? Everybody seemed to have difficulty believing that he already passed away, even up to now he seems to be just busy somewhere, out there giving his bests in his films acting and that we are just waiting for the his movie releases and press con.
Though he left us with forever goodbye, Heath Ledger gave his best performance in every film he had. I myself is very thankful that he was able to finish his role as Joker in the most anticipated film this year, the reason why The Dark Knight is a very huge hit now. When I watched The Dark Knight, I have nothing to remember but the character of Joker (no offense to the rest of the casts, they all did well, Christian Bale and Maggie are also my favorites). He is really 'Fearless' as Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight's Director) said. Who would have thought that Heath evolved from a teen star down to best villain of all time. Yeah , indeed he deserves an acting credit for the role.I like his every scene in the Dark Knight, but what i like the most is when he is attacking someone with his knife and always tell the story about how he got the scars and paint smile on his face with the line "...why too serious.."
Some of his films before Dark Knight were I'm Not There (2007) also with Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Richard Gere and his Oscar nominated performance Brokeback Mountain (2006) with Jake Gyllenhaal and his ex-wife Michelle Williams, Candy with Geoffrey Rush; The Patriot with Mel Gibson; The Brother's Grimm with Matt Damon; and his first known film in 1999, 10 Things I hate about you with Julia Stiles.

Top Films This week

The new Mummy failed to fight Dark Knight in this week battle of the best films. Dark Knight earned 43.8 millions this week now reaching 393 million in 17 days while the new Mummy closed to 42.2 million. The latest Batman is currently no. 8 in all time box office in America, which falls between Spider Man and Star Wars 3 in no. 7 and 9 respectively.

Here is the complete All-time TOP 10 Films (from imdb.com)

1. Titanic (1997) $600,779,824
2. Star Wars (1977) $460,935,665
3. Shrek 2 (2004) $436,471,036
4. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) $434,949,459
5. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) $431,065,444
6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) $423,032,628

Wanted is a must-see action film this year.

Wanted is a must-see action film this year, director Timur Bekmambetov (Russian director known for vampire films that includes the trilogy Night Watch) opened this year the real action genre. With the very outstanding performances from Oscar winners Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, and the new comer James McAvoy who started his career appearing in romantic films (Penelope and Atonement), Wanted will thrill you as it takes you the real action scenes that you haven't seen in other films before. The twists were unexpected and every scene would really keep you locked on your seat.

The drama behind Wanted, though quite familiar but showed in a very nice way that pushed the film to its highest level, a real film out of wit, the sounds and effects (would remind you of Matrix films) and everything.

A not-to-miss action film this year...two thumbs up!

The Dark Knight, the fastest film to reach 2000 million dollar

Congratulations to all the casts and crews of The Dark Knight, specially the outstanding performances of lead stars, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, for being the fastest film to reach 2000 million dollar in just 5 days. Previous record holders, Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Spider Man -2 made to 2000 million in 8 days. Since the day it was released (July 18, 2008), the latest batman film has already reached $222,150,806. Truly Dark Knight is the hottest superhero this year or maybe for years to come.

The Dark Knight has the best opening weekend to date

The latest superhero movie The Dark Knight has the best opening weekend to date with the total gross of $158,411,483 in its first week. It leaves Spider-Man 3 behind by almost 8 million in the 2nd place. This makes The Dark Knight as the most successful batman films ever created.

Completing the top 12 are both Hero Films, Indiana Jones 4 and Iron Man, which were also released earlier this year.

Since most of the anticipated films were already released earlier and some are scheduled next year, seems like The Dark Knight would be holding the top spot for quite a while.

However in 19997, James Cameron's version of Titanic is unbeatable for over a decade as No. 1 Movie of all time in Box Office. I'm not just so sure if it was because of Cameron's aura or the love story of Rose and Jack that really made the movie goer watched it for several times, (yes several times!). Rose and Jack were portrayed by the Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Buzz to all movie freaks out there (just like me)..just wanna update you about the latest movies up this year, next year or perhaps very soon (who knows they might adjust the release dates). Of course i won't include the Hancock of Will Smith and Peter Berg who has already started its 2nd weeks or Christian Bale's Dark Knight which is out also this month ..I just wanna give you the idea that most of the famous Hollywood stars are coming back this year and very busy working again (either filming and promoting).

Let's start with Tom Cruise, who had just produced Ben Stiller's along with Kung Fu Panda Jack Black and Iron man Robert Downy Jr. movie Trophic Thunder (in which he also appeared in cameo in the movie, and another full length movie soon with Ben Stiller). Tom is done filming the action drama movie Valkyrie with director Bryan Singer which is out anytime next year (just waiting for the perfect time i guess hehe)

However another Tom is also soon to be reprising his roles as Robert Langdon in Dan Brow's novel and Woody in Toy Story 3. Tom Hanks is busy working with the prequel of the movie with Ron Howard (who also directed the Da Vinci Code) and this time with the book prequel "Angels and Demons" and with the Pixar's Toy Story 3. There are no fix released date of these films, but hopefully before end of 2009.

That's it for now, in the near future I'll be adding more coming soon films from your fave actors and actresses.
